Hey there, campers, we're back from the dead and ready to face the apocalypse or, in this case, the clapocalypse. After some time in the shadows, one Clap has returned. Hi everyone, I'm Lyle Wiley, english teacher and speech and debate coach in small town Wyoming and host of One Clap Speech and Debate, and also your fearless leader for Camp One Clap to the Clapocalypse. This episode is going to be a quick introduction of Camp One Clap and there are three big things I want to talk about today. First, let's celebrate all of the participants and coaches of NSDA Nationals in Des Moines this summer. Second, we'll do a quick look back at One Clap in 2023. And then I want to welcome everyone to Camp One Clap Two, the Clapocalypse and all of the Season 6 content for the podcast starting in August. I guess that's today.
Lyle Wiley:First up, we absolutely must celebrate yet another impressive season of speech and debate in Wyoming and all over the country At the NSDA National Speech and Debate Tournament in Des Moines, iowa, this summer. Wyoming competitors once again showed up and made their mark on the national stage alongside fabulous speech and debaters from all over the country and, in some cases, the world and, in some cases, the world Big time. Congratulations to all the competitors out there are in order. We should especially honor the speech and debate seniors who gave so much of themselves to their teams and our community. Whether you're a crowned national champion, a now graduated senior, a coach who works tirelessly to help kids find opportunities and success, or a weekend warrior who braves the speech battlefield weekend after weekend to share your voice with the world, you're all champions. Your voice matters in this activity and it matters in this world, and you're all worth celebrating. Every year, I'm given hope for a better future by the students and adults who champion this activity. Thank you all for your courage in the face of fear, your steadfast perseverance and dedication to speaking your truth and igniting passion in others. Thank you for embracing who you are and bringing that you to all of us, to teach us and to make our world bigger and better. You are all what makes speech and debate the incredible activity that it is.
Lyle Wiley:So how about a quick moment to assess One Clap Speech and Deb debate up to this point? Lyle Wiley:After Camp One Clap, I'll be in the thick of the school year, but I'll start planning for more season six content. I do have some good news. I've been able to recover some audio from old interviews a couple of panel discussions and a couple of individual interviews that had been unusable up to this point, so I might be able to resurrect some really great content from the past two years that's been walled up in cyber cellars and buried in digital coffins, so that's pretty cool. There's a lot to look forward to on OneClap. Make sure you've subscribed on your preferred listening platform and follow on our socials. Links to all our social accounts will be in the notes for this episode and on the website.
Lyle Wiley:And, even though it can be scary sometimes, your howl matters. Sharing your voice and experiences makes this world a better place for all of us, so help me amplify voices on One Clap. Campers Maybe pack some granola, bars and water for the long journey ahead, which, by the way, zombies like snacks at Camp 2. They always pack and trails mix. Yeah, for Camp One Clap.
